Roomies book review5/11/2023 ![]() They love each other unconditionally, support and sacrifice for each other, and hold each other accountable to their actions. They family dynamic they have is one to be envied. I love Irish accents so hearing Calvin’s voice in my head was pure joy!Īdditionally, Holland leans heavily on her two uncles throughout this book. ![]() This is one of the few books I’ve read in which I read the dialogue in the applicable accent for every character. The cultural heritage of characters is introduced quickly. Holland’s Uncle Robert is from Ghana and her love interest, Calvin, is from Ireland. Because people standing at the lowest level of spirituality requires some kick while listening to these kind of holy preaching. Also some stories from mythology that relates to the particular situation would have given an added charm to the narration. That would have helped the reader stick to the content with a better perspective. ![]() The commentary is given in ‘doubt-answer’ format.Īt some instances while reading, I felt like, the explanations could have been little elaborated by including day to day situations as examples. Such doubts are also cleared by the Author very beautifully. Even after the verses are explained, there arises many doubts in a reader’s mind. The language used to explain the verses is also very simple. This definitely increases the understanding level of the reader.
